DESIGNER HANDBAGS

The E900 is a a Tri-Band GSM (900/1800/1900MHz) EDGE phone with GPRS capabilities and remarkably very much like the D600 in its ethos as it is the Chocolate phone in its design.

The phone offers a limited feature set on the top of the model, while a quick slide of the display reveals a keypad hidden underneath.

However rather than a big bulky design, the E900 is considerably thinner than the D600 and this is mainly due to the lack of buttons on the front of the phone as well as some other behind the scenes changes.

Where the D600 featured rather clunky buttons on the front of the slider design, on the E900 they have been replaced by touch sensitive ones and means that you merely have to press the casing to access the function you want rather than an actual button.

================

The D500 takes much of what we loved about the E800, adds a touch of sophistication and packs in a heap of extra features. Similarities to the E800 include an internal antenna and the same semi-automatic sliding function -- once you push on the screen section the top slides up effortlessly on its own.

Weighing only 99 grams, the D500 is the lightest megapixel camera phone we have tested so far. Samsung advertises the phone as a business model more than a fashion handset, although with its multimedia slant and slick all-back case, we think the latter category is more fitting.

With the D500 in the closed position, you have access to the left and right soft keys, the answer and end buttons, the clear key, a four-way navigation pad and the selection key in the middle. In idle mode, the selection key launches the WAP browser. On the left side of the handset is a volume switch and on the right is the camera shortcut key. With only limited buttons available when the slider is closed, it is surprising how many shortcuts Samsung squeezes in. Without opening the slider you can start the MP3 player, search for Bluetooth devices, bring up the calendar, open a new text message, start a new memo, access the menu, and bring up your contact list. Opening the slider reveals the numerical keypad, which is flat, sufficiently spaced out and easy to text with.

Bad Points: None really. This could be me but haven't worked out how to save my sent messages - perhaps I should just read the easy to follow manual!

General comments: Samsung D600 - I was a Nokia fan but switched to Samsung as loved the features. It is so easy to use, has large text and numbers (great for those who are "visually challenged!" and good sound and camera/video quality. Sound/Camera/video quality is excellent. Good tones generally and good alarm alert (alarm still goes off if you activate the quiet mode - useful to know for those who go to meetings etc!) Extra large numbers when typing in a phone number is great. Colour and a good size screen is good too.

The i900 Omnia is a 3G Smartphone which works on a MS Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system. This beautiful handset comes with a touch screen complete with QWERTY keyboard. A built in 5 megapixel camera with auto focus & a music player which provides high quality imaging functions & music features for the user to enjoy. This stylish Samsung phone supports WiFi, Bluetooth® & 3G HSDPA technology.

An orientation sensor is built into the i900. When rotated, it does this fancy transition whereby the display shrinks and expands back to fill the screen in a different orientation. The 240 x 400 display does seem a little weird, but is not unheard of–we’ve seen it in the ASUS M930’s internal display. It makes sense, too, if you are to use it as a media player because the aspect ratio is much closer to the 16:9 aspect ratio commonly seen in movie files. To that end, the i900 also comes with a media application that supports DivX and Xvid out of the box.
